Whether we’re talking about sophisticated dinners, chic cocktail gatherings or epic house parties – they are all great places to unwind! However, that’s the exact opposite of what you would like your hair to be doing, right? Since braids are really trendy at the moment, I’ve come to the rescue with 20 simple yet gorgeous party hairstyles for long hair you’re going to love!
Ultimate Party Hair Rules
Achieving the perfect party hairstyle is all about knowing a few useful hair styling rules – and playing by them. Here they are – all tried-and-tested by me and on my long straight hair!
- For a slick look, use hairspray and a toothbrush to get rid of flyaways! Spray some onto a toothbrush and use it like a comb to comb back the flyaways.
- Curl hair away from your face at the front for best results waves.
- Spray hairspray on slippery bobby pins to make sure they stay in place all night long.
- Make sure you put bobby pins in with the flat side facing out and the bumpy side inwards.
- When I say “pancaking”, there’s no frying pan involved! Pancaking a braid means puffing it out by gently pulling on the edges which creates an easy ‘pancake’ effect. It gives your hair an extra volume boost.
- Keep your bun neat for formal events or make it a little more boho and messy for casual (e.g., birthday) parties.
- Probably, the most important rule: make sure the hairstyle is comfortable – and you feel good wearing it.
